Tevékenységi kör:
The Budaörsi Tanoda Foundation is a member of the RGDTS Initiative. This initiative is about Dialogue. The Roma-Gadje Dialogue Through Service Initiative, which started in 2003. We joined to this voluntary service initiative in 2005.
The RGDTS Initiative has the following goals:
A long-term commitment (10 years +) to improving the situation of Roma in European society through:
a) giving Roma from largely rural communities in Central and Eastern Europe opportunities to journey outside their own communities to volunteer and to take part in conferences, training events, and exchanges that will broaden their knowledge and skills and enable them to contribute to the further development of their communities upon their return, and
b) putting non-Roma (Gadje) volunteers into local community projects involving Roma for one to two years and their engagement after their voluntary service in public education activities in their own countries and regions.
The Budaörsi Tanoda places a special focus on integration and on European integration of Roma youngsters. It is very new for most of the Roma youngsters to be a volunteer. Many of the regular voluntary service programmes offering voluntary service opportunities for Hungarian youngsers who want to be volunteers and are able to make on their own decision and offers to perform service out of his own free will, to support a non-profit organisation, and who are also able to express their vision about the world and humanity, and have thoughts about their own future, and are able to reflect on worlds concerns and are not only interested on their own family. We would like to open up for disadvanted groups who did not have the opportunity to voluntary service yet but they have the ability and gift to become like others.
We hold several seminars and events dealing with integration, non-formal education, run trips, summer camps and organise joint events with European partners of the RGDTS initiative. We wish to show young people the chances of Europe, to express the personal and political chances of integration in the Hungarian society and to support the idea of voluntary service where we still can learn many things about voluntary service. We would like to offer that toward young people.
Since Budaörsi Tanoda Foundation takes on so many other responsibilities, the EVS as such is not defined as a centre task but it is important. However, it is operated by several colleagues with great commitment.
